Make an Animated
Pie Chart Race
Load a spreadsheet and watch the slices of a pie or donut chart grow and shrink through time. Show how market shares, budgets or energy mixes changed at a glance, then save it as an MP4 or WebM video — no software to install.
No install, no sign-up — runs in your browser.Show how shares change over time
The example shows the world’s electricity generation by source from 2000 to 2025 (data: Ember, Energy Institute). Watch solar and wind slowly take their slice — a change that is much easier to feel in motion than in a table. Works for vertical social videos and widescreen slides alike.
Features
Enter raw numbers — the percentages and the animation are done for you.
CSV & Excel import
Upload your spreadsheet or paste data into the built-in table. Shares are calculated from each period’s total, so raw values like sales or TWh work as-is.
Pie or donut
Choose a filled pie or a donut with the year or total in the center. Tune colors, labels, legend, start angle and more.
Tidy “Other” slice
Set how many slices to show and the rest is grouped into “Other”. Sort by size to show slices overtaking each other.
Switch chart types
Jump to the bar chart race or line chart race with one click — your data comes along.
What people make with it
Great whenever the parts of a whole change over time.
Market share over time
Show how your brand and competitors split a market, or how revenue by product or region shifted.
Energy mix
Explain how coal, gas, nuclear and renewables changed their share of electricity generation.
Tech share battles
Smartphone OS, browser or social network shares — turned into short, shareable vertical videos.
Population and industry structure
Age groups, employment by sector and other public statistics, explained as a moving chart.
How to make a pie chart race
Just three steps.
Prepare your data
Put item names in column A, an optional image URL in column B, and one column of values per year (or month) after that. No need to calculate percentages.
Upload or paste it
Load a CSV or Excel file, or type and paste your data into the table in the tool.
Style it and export
Pick pie or donut, adjust colors and labels, preview the animation, then press “Save video” to export an MP4 or WebM file.
